We’re working for a Britain where anyone can be elected to parliament

British politics is too professionalised and too elitist

We believe when our Members of Parliament come from a variety of careers and professional backgrounds our country is fairer and stronger.

Too many of our Members of Parliament come from elite careers. Too many have not worked a job outside of politics, law and government.

Too few enter parliament from the vital careers in sectors like care, health, industry and retail that millions of us work in every day.

Working class and blue collar careers are disappearing from politics

- Only 7% of MPs in our last parliament were working class*

- Working class and blue collar professions are disappearing from every political party. The number of working class Labour MPs has declined in every election since 1980.

- Proportionately, a record low number of blue collar professionals were selected for parliament in the 2024 election.

Help us rebuild our proud democratic heritage

We want to see a Parliament with more nurses, more retail workers, more care professionals, more factory stewards, more mechanics, more carpenters, more drivers, more hospitality workers.

Britain once led the world in creating democratic governments full of people who lived ordinary lives. In parliament, those people achieved incredible things.

A mineworker founded the NHS.

A truck driver helped found NATO in the aftermath of World War Two.

We can restore our country’s incredible history of lifting people from all walks of life into government.
